What is Confirmation? In Confirmation, youth explore what it means to be Presbyterian, what it means to be part of the Church, and what it means to lead faithful lives. Over the course of several weeks, Confirmands wrestle with tough questions, observe Christian practices, and consider how faith enriches their world. Topics of discussion include God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, Presbyterian polity, worship, doctrine, scripture, service, sacraments, and prayer. At the end of the Confirmation process, youth create a faith statement to share with members of the Session who will approve them for membership in the church. Who can participate in Confirmation? Several nights per week from December through March, we provide a warm and safe shelter for our neighbors who are experiencing homelessness. This program is one of our largest service opportunities, with over 250 volunteers welcoming guests into our church for an overnight stay. Our volunteers cook and serve a home-cooked dinner, provide fellowship and showers, and offer the guests breakfast and a bag lunch to take the following day.
Dinner will be served from 5:00-6:00pm. Cost is $9 for those 12 and older, $6 for children ages 4-11, and no charge for children 3 and under. Buffet lines will be set up in the back of Wood Fellowship Hall with seating available in the fellowship hall.
Child and Youth Protection Policy: All church volunteers who plan to be involved with children and youth need to take this training once every three years. This particular training will take place on Zoom. Please make sure to register for the training! Once you register, you will find the Zoom link to join the class.
