The Ivey Handbell Ringers will perform their annual homecoming concert as they return from their tour of Montreal, Ottawa, and Quebec City. They will present selections from their tour concert programs. This event is free to attend.

During worship, Lucy Crain will be ordained and Rev. Gail Henderson-Belsito will be preaching. Following worship, stop by the ice cream cart for a free ice cream treat! In honor of Lucy’s ordination, please consider bringing a food donation for Loaves and Fishes. There will be a drop off area in front of the church.

In partnership with Sun Counseling and Wellness, FPC is offering three classes designed to empower parents with knowledge and techniques to support their child’s mental health journey. Classes will take place at First Presbyterian Church, located at 200 W Trade Street in Uptown Charlotte. All classes are free of charge and open to parents with children from birth to college. Free parking is available in the church parking lot. Depending on your interests, you may attend one, two, or all three courses. Childcare is available, and dinner is available for purchase beginning at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, September 13, 6 p.m.: Understanding Feelings (Emotional Intelligence) with Hailey Goodwin, MA, LCMHCA and Andrea Juarez, LCSWA. This presentation will shed light on how to help your children understand, express, and cope with their feelings. The Fall Gathering is PW’s annual kickoff event. We will gather for lunch following worship to enjoy fellowship and hear about plans for the upcoming year. Help us decorate a Habitat for Humanity playhouse to celebrate our upcoming build this fall! We will have the opportunity to paint a design on the playhouse and enjoy fellowship and light refreshments. The playhouse will find its forever home at a Habitat house, where it will bring endless joy to a child who dreams of their own special place. This is a great intergenerational opportunity to get involved with Habitat – children and adults can help adorn the playhouse with love and artistry! During worship, the Sanctuary Choir, accompanied by a 28-member orchestra, will sing Morten Lauridsen's Lux Aeterna (Light Eternal) as we celebrate All Saints' Sunday. This beautiful and serene piece, centered around themes of light, will follow the reading of the names of those in the congregation who have departed their earthly life in the past year.

Hunter Farrell, Director of World Mission Initiative at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary (formerly the director of Presbyterian World Mission) will be our guest preacher and churchwide Sunday School leader. The children's choirs will share a special piece of music from our friends in Haiti, a special offering will be collected to provide clean water in the Yucatan, and representatives from EWO in Haiti will be in worship with us. Olguens Saint Louis will be with us from Bayonnais, and the director of EWO will be available after worship with information about student sponsorships. Our guest preacher will be The Rev. Taylor Lewis Guthrie Hartman, who currently serves as Pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Statesboro, GA. A luncheon will follow. The children of the church will tell the Christmas story during the Sunday School hour. Everyone is invited to attend this heartwarming and entertaining play.

A service filled with carols, anthems, and scripture lessons that tell the birth story of Jesus. This service takes place during our regular 11 a.m. service. Childcare available.

A reflective candlelight service for all, and especially for those for whom the holidays are difficult and those who are grieving.

The Ivey ringers will perform a handbell concert leading up to the beginning of the 8 p.m. service.

A traditional candlelight Christmas Eve service. No childcare provided. This service will be preceded by a handbell concert beginning at 7:30 p.m. You may arrive before or during the concert.

Worship with candlelight and communion as Christmas Eve becomes Christmas Day. No childcare provided.

Stay for a short time after worship for a Town Hall Meeting. We'll discuss and answer questions about recent Session decisions regarding the church's staffing structure and endowment funds.
