Devotional for December 15

My uncle was director of church music for decades. Sometimes, he would play hymns for our family to sing. The phrase “that glorious song of old” reminds me of the family members who are no longer around that piano and the way they shaped my faith, but it goes further back to the angels. Christians throughout the ages have heard the music of the “angels bending near the earth” and rejoiced at the divine touching humanity in song and through Christ. I’m sure the angels make continual music that we can’t hear; I am equally sure that when we worship, both the angels and the community of saints are with us in joyful celebration.
