The In-Between – Walking our Loved Ones Home
As our lives evolve, the natural process of death and dying can be a place of fear or peace. The NYT Bestseller, “The In-Between,” shares helpful encounters as we walk our loved ones home. Come join us at the home of Joan Wright at 2009 Nolen Park Lane on Monday, March 9 at 11:30 a.m. for a guided discussion on the challenges and joys of caregiving and reflections on the experiences of hospice nurse, Dr. Hadley Vlahos, RN. Vlahas’s stories provide hope, comfort and understanding as we support family and friends in the last stage of life. You may listen to the podcast a conversation on life, death and “The In-Between” on Charlotte Talks with Mike Collins or read “The In-Between.”
Joan Wright will facilitate our conversation. As an MSW in clinical social work, Joan learned to understand “dying well and dying within a community of loving people”. Her HR experience has afforded her many opportunities to facilitate conversations that get to the heart of the matter. Additionally, she is a trained Spiritual Director through Sustainable Faith and offers therapy dog support with her pups Brodie and Oliver to patients, family members/caregivers who are dealing with Alzheimers and Dementia.
Snacks and beverages will be provided. Please bring your own lunch to enjoy! The session will be open for up to 16 participants. Questions and RSVP to sarah.shifflet@gmail.com.
