Sermon for Christmas Eve
Christmas at Luke’s House
One of the most amazing and joyful stories of our faith is that, when the time was right, God chose to enter our world through the flesh and blood of Jesus, who was born by Mary. Each of the four Gospels tells a different story about how this happened and what it means. Throughout December, we will be celebrating the gift of Christmas through the Gospel writers’ eyes. This is the last day in our sermon series, “Christmas at the Gospel Writers’ Homes.”
Christmas Eve Schedule
There will be no services on Chirstmas day.
Christmas Giving
Two Ways To Give This Christmas
Welcoming Neighbors Home
Supporting Roof Above
The infant Jesus was born into an unsheltered family and yet became the savior of the world. On Christmas Eve, 100% of contributions to the offering will go to Roof Above to provide shelter for all God’s children so that they may live into the fullness of their God-given potential. Please consider giving generously to support the good work of our partner, Roof Above, and all they do to provide housing in our community.

Alternative Gift Market
supporting local and global outreach partners
Honor friends and family with gifts that support our community partners and neighbors around the world. When you make a gift to the AGM, you’ll receive a Christmas card to send to your loved one, letting them know that a gift has been made in their honor. This year’s beautiful card, designed by our own wonderfully talented Lucy Caldwell, will have space for you to list the name(s) of the organizations you select by using the drop-down choices in the menu line below. Cards will be available for pickup before and after worship through December 15, or you may request to have them mailed to you by emailing Lauren Russell at lrussell@firstpres-charlotte.org.
Today’s Devotional
Lenten Devotional for April 20
"The Uprising" SCRIPTURE “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here but has risen.” —Luke 24:5 DEVOTIONAL Often, when we talk about the resurrection, we might think of the flesh and body coming out of the ground like an old Michael Jackson Thriller video. But the word translated as “resurrection” in the New Testament Greek is anastasus – which means “rising up” or an “uprising.” The Romans were always worried about anastasees (uprisings) which is why they sent all of those Roman soldiers to Jerusalem during the time of the festival; they needed to quell those movements....
First Presbyterian ministers and members have written devotionals for each day of Advent. They are available in booklet and email formats. You can pick up a booklet at the church or sign up to receive the daily devotional in your inbox each morning during Advent.
