Prayer
Week 3: It Came Upon a Midnight Clear
God who ruptures our darkness with your angelic melody of hope,
we give you thanks for the light that hovers over our weary world,
calling us, if only by a floating whisper, to stillness and peace.
We praise you for the harmony of your life and ours, your promise and our hope, your grace and
our gratitude, even as it moves us deeper into this long-suffering world’s cacophony of war and
hunger, of injustice and corruption, of strife and fear.
Come swiftly to attune our ears to your eternal voice. Lift our eyes to the crushing load of the
Babel-sound. Hasten our voices to echo the angelic tidings of peace and joy, of faith and love
until this world kneels with those very gifts to honor your light.
Amen.
