Global Outreach
We understand that the love of God is expansive and cannot be bound by human-created boundaries. At First Presbyterian, we partner with others globally so we can uphold the principles that define us: shared grace and thanksgiving, mutuality and interdependence, recognition and respect, open dialogue and transparency, and sharing of resources.
We are excited to be part of what God is doing in the world by participating in outreach in Cuba, Mexico, Haiti, and Russia and enjoy building relationships with brothers and sisters in Christ around the globe.

Cuba
Since 2017
We support the Evangelical Theological Seminary in Matanzas. The ecumenical seminary educates ministers and lay people in Cuba, where a generation of citizens has not experienced open worship opportunities and is now freely sharing their faith in God, their support of the church, and their love of their neighbors.
Upcoming Mission Trip
January 17-22, 2026
Join FPC members as we travel to Cuba to visit the Evangelical Seminary of Theology! The cost is $1500. To apply, you must be a member of First Presbyterian Church. The cost of this trip includes visa, insurance, lodging, transportation, and cultural experiences. If you need scholarship assistance to fund this trip, please get in touch with Lucy Crain (lcrain@firstpres-charlotte.org).

Western North Carolina
Following Hurricane Helene, which destroyed much of Western North Carolina in September 2024, First Presbyterian has dedicated resources and time to helping our neighbors recover. We will take a trip to WNA to help recovery efforts each fall.
Upcoming Mission Trip
October 26-30, 2025
Join a group of travelers headed to Western NC for work and fellowship. We will spend the next 4 days repairing homes damaged by Hurricane Helene. Trip leaders are David Burton and Lucy Crain. The cost of the trip is $500, which includes food, lodging, and participation in the rebuild program. If you would like to donate to construction materials, pay what you can and the additional funds will help purchase supplies!

Haiti
Outreach for Christ in Bayonnais (OFCB) serves a remote mountain valley, supporting four schools, a clinic, and a local church. Friends Empowering Haiti and EWO are two of the non-profits that support OFCB that First Presbyterian partners with to provide for that community. While we cannot visit at this time due to the political unrest, this has not stopped us for continuing to provide support for this community with our financial resources and our prayers. Learn more about Friends Empowering Haiti (friendsempoweringhaiti.org) and EWO (ewohaiti.org).

Mexico
Since 1989
Accion Ministries provides housing and access to education at the Merida Student Houses for young men and women and the Mayan Children’s Village for youth. Accion also partners with Mayan communities in building churches and homes and provides emergency relief in tough times. You can participate in construction trips to the Yucatan peninsula, sponsor a student enrolled in their program, and support our brothers and sisters there with your prayers.
