SUMMARY:Women's Retreat
DESCRIPTION:Pack your comfy clothes\, your hiking shoes\, and your favorite mug—we’re heading back to the mountains! Join the women of First Presbyterian Church for a weekend of rest\, laughter\, and renewal at beautiful Montreat Conference Center\, May 1–3\, 2026. Hosted by Presbyterian Women\, this retreat is a chance to step away from your everyday routine and make space for God\, yourself\, and one another. \nWe’re especially excited to welcome back The Rev. Christopher Edmonston\, a former FPC associate pastor. Christopher is a gifted preacher\, teacher\, and retreat leader—and a dear friend to many at First Presbyterian. He’ll guide us through meaningful times of study and conversation as we grow together in faith. \nIn between sessions\, you’ll have plenty of time to wander the Black Mountain shops\, join a hike\, read by the lake\, or simply sit and visit with friends. New this year\, Friday and Saturday dinners will be catered by Red Radish and Ole Guacamole\, so all you have to do is show up and enjoy. \nChoose what works best for you: \n\n\nDouble room: $230 per person \n\n\nSingle room: $355 \n\n\n(Cost includes lodging\, meals\, program\, and fees.) \nRegistration opens January 8 and closes January 30. Space is limited\, and a waitlist will be created once all rooms are filled. \nWe never want cost to be the reason someone doesn’t come. Financial support is available—contact Rev. Anna Dickson to learn more.

SUMMARY:Maundy Thursday Tenebrae Service
DESCRIPTION:Most of us know how the story ends\, but we miss the journey. \nThe Maundy Thursday Tenebrae Service invites us to slow down and walk through the story before we celebrate the ending. The Last Supper shared between friends. The agony of a garden prayer. The weight of the cross. The darkness of the tomb. These aren’t detours on the way to Easter morning—they are the journey. And when you arrive at the Resurrection having traveled that journey\, it will mean something it never has before. \nThis Maundy Thursday service remembers the final hours of Jesus’ life through Scripture\, prayer\, music\, and the gradual dimming of light. Don’t simply skip to the ending. The whole story is worth it. \n🔗 This service will also be available on livestream: firstpres-charlotte.org/watch \n🚗 Free parking is available in the lot next to the church (enter from Poplar Street). \n👋 Are you new to FPC or planning to visit? Learn more about Sunday mornings or tell us you’re coming at fpc.tiny.us/new.

SUMMARY:Palm Sunday Processional
DESCRIPTION:The 11 a.m. service will open with a palm processional. All children and youth (birth through 18) are invited to take part in this meaningful tradition. \nProcessional Details: \n\n\nChildren and youth should meet in the Fellowship Hall at 10:40 a.m. to line up. \n\n\nFamilies are invited to attend the Children’s Musical at 10 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall and then stay afterward for the processional lineup. \n\n\nParents\, please remember to save pew space for your children (including choir members)\, as this will be a high-attendance Sunday. \n\n\nImportant Notes: \n\n\nChildren who are dropped off in the Fellowship Hall must be old enough and comfortable walking down the aisle independently. \n\n\nParents of toddlers and younger children are encouraged to walk with them during the processional. \n\n\nWe can’t wait to see palms waving and children leading us into worship as we remember Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem.
